Tourism is a strong force in the hospitality industry in Houston with conservative estimate of 300,000 room nights per year and an estimated impact of in excess of $291 million to our economy.  The Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched two initiatives to help strengthen the positive perception of Houston as a destination and further stimulate tourism in the City.

The Houston CityPass offers a wide range of access to Houston’s unique personality and attractions covering a variety of areas including history, art, sciences, and distinctive characters.  Come join us as Ms. Susan Wilson, Vice President of Communications with City Pass, gives an overview of the new program as well as how Houston area hotels can partner with the CityPass to further increase Tourism in our City.

Ms. Holly Clapham-Rosenow, Vice President of Marketing with the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau, began a marketing campaign known as “My Houston” a little over two years ago. This program focuses on the positive aspects of Houston as seen through the eyes of celebrities that are native Houstonians. Covered in countless publications, this campaign is becoming the cornerstone of Houston’s image.  Holly will elaborate on how it can be used and incorporated by the Houston hotel community to continue our growth.

The information present meeting is value to all team members who interact with guests, particularly front desk managers and concierge.

“The Simple Truth For Your Business”

Famed Restaurateur Alex Brennan-Martin, owner of Brennan’s of Houston , presents an engaging recounting of how he took his acclaimed restaurant team through the process of discovering the “Simple Truth” about their business, a process which subsequently became a best-selling business book.   Alex says, “Contrary to belief, hospitality is not about the hotel or food service business, rather it is the human connection that holds the service chain together, and what builds a successful business.” He explains that by discovering “The Simple Truth” of one’s business – the defining characteristic that sets it apart from others in its industry – the emotional connection your customer has with the brand – a foundation is created and a focus will exist for every action and decision made within the business.”
