Camp Hospitality is a great opportunity to start HISD middle school students thinking about our Industry as a career.  Groups of approximately 20-25 students will arrive by bus at the participating hotels and be at the properties in the morning.  The students are ages 13 and 14.  While they are not our future employees for next year, it is time to get them thinking about our industry as a possible career. Many are deciding on which “career” track they take in high school and we wish to encourage them to select the hospitality track.

ALEX BRENNAN-MARTIN

“The Simple Truth For Your Business”

Famed Restaurateur Alex Brennan-Martin, owner of Brennan’s of Houston , presents an engaging recounting of how he took his acclaimed restaurant team through the process of discovering the “Simple Truth” about their business, a process which subsequently became a best-selling business book.   Alex says, “Contrary to belief, hospitality is not about the hotel or food service business, rather it is the human connection that holds the service chain together, and what builds a successful business.” He explains that by discovering “The Simple Truth” of one’s business – the defining characteristic that sets it apart from others in its industry – the emotional connection your customer has with the brand – a foundation is created and a focus will exist for every action and decision made within the business.”

Unlimited Sales for Limited Service

with Karen Pena

Selling hospitality in this fast paced technological world is difficult for hotels that have a sales person for every given market, but seems almost impossible for those who have very little or no sales staff at all.  With competition at an all time high and an uncertain, day-to-day economy, it is imperative that limited service facilities aggressively and persistently promote their visibility and communicate their value to the customer.  Karen Pena has developed a simple yet effective program to improve the frequency of customer contact and enhance the message to targeted niche markets even when resources are sparse.  This three hour course will include the following topics:

  • Finding your true niche (Branding)

  • 9 Tips to Value Selling (Small hotel/Big benefits)

  • Selling your staff and staffing to sell

  • Networking (Technology vs. face-to-face)

  • Maximizing visibility with minimum time

  • Quick ways to customize
